Second Year- Semester 1 Work:
Food Production And Food Waste: Final Outcomes
Food waste is something which has been getting increasingly worse throughout the years. As there’s an ongoing increasing population, the demand for food is also rising. Wasted food gets thrown away in to landfill which produces methane, causing climate change to worsen.
If climate change worsens, it has severe effects on the environment such as heat, drought and flooding impacts. It is said that flooding is likely to get worse unless we adapt. Flooding is also increasing in coastal places which is pushing up sea levels which will be a severe effect to peoples homes and communities.

Promoting Healthy Living: - Final Outcomes
My aim for the logo was to design a bright, motivational, clear and engaging logo which will make individuals feel positive about exercise. This Brief is aimed at individuals in later adulthood who need the motivation and encouragement to engage with physical activity. My final outcomes aim to encourage the elderly to choose a healthier and active lifestyle.
The logo name ‘Strength at heart, health and wellbeing’ is based on empowering and encouraging the individual. In my opinion, the gym is labelled as something young people engage with which is why ‘Strength at heart’ is something which isn’t directed at one particular age group but its directed at individuals at all ages.

The Great Outdoors: - Final Outcomes
The Great Outdoors is something which I love to do on the side of studying. For this Brief, I wanted to encourage people to engage with more outdoor activities such as walking or hiking. During the oandemic it has definitely encouraged people to go out walking in the fresh ir, however, when the pandemic is over, will people be willing to be more active and make the most of Sheffield's scenic walking places?
For my provocation outcomes, I designed illustrative leaflets which include maps of specific scenic places in Sheffield for a younger audience to feel encouraged to get out there. Using the concept of social media to get this message across, I designed a mockup of an instagram page where individuals can go and post their phtos of their walking place using a '#Letsgetouttheresheffield' to bring people together as a community especially during the pandemic.
Social media marketing is something which I would love to learn more about, how to target advertisements to the audience to increase sales, promoting clients products on social media, creating logos and creating branding.

Second Year Semester 2:
SOS UK Sustainability- Work inspired by the 'Plastic Free Campaign 2019'
Plastic Pollution
I chose to look into Plastic Pollution as it's a rising global problem that is increasingly getting worse. If we dont change our behavior then it will have devastating effects for the future and the future generation.

Data collected on a Google document survey. Risograph intended for print based on peoples opinion and understanding 'Plastic Pollution'.
During Semester 2, we got to learn about different 3D modelling software when creating our 3D model and poster key. This model was done using 'Adobe Dimension'. The design is designed to be a plastic bottle with the texture presenting the different types of plastics found in rivers nd oceans. The A3 poster key is designed to be the river which the bottle is found in floating away. I really enjoyed learning new software and developing my 3D skills. The 3D model was then printed.

For the provocation piece, I designed a pocket sized booklet which contains interactive pull out tabs and reveals which is aimed at educating a younger audience. An AR code is also included for those who find it easier to watch a digital version. The animated version was designed in after effects.

For my second provocation piece, I designed a 3D exhibition which creates a fun and educational way of learning about Plastic Pollution. The exhibition has a variety of different designed sections which highlight the effects and impacts of plastic pollution and also educated individuals on 'microplastics' making the invisible, visible so that people are aware and understand more about it.

Final Year:
Lost Heritage and Endangered Crafts:
I chose Lost Heritage to look into some of today's endangered/lost crafts. One which I came across was rope making, something which is extremely endangered due to machinery and technology. It's important to pass these endangered crafts down to future generations as the rope makers would have specialist techniques suitable for the purpose for the rope. For example, ropes for bells need to be strong but also hard wearing to survive being pulled often by the bell ringers, ropes for mining would need to be made even stronger to support significant weight.
For one of my outcomes for this project, I designed a publication using the rope from Castleton for the book binding which is aimed to educate and raise awareness of rope making which could be found in the bus station. During the design process I decided to use the rope on the front cover of the book to create a more tactile experience.

Illustration and Storytelling:
For my second brief, I chose Illustration and storytelling. For this, I decided to create an animation of the four seasons at Chatsworth House. I really enjoyed using my illustration skills and experimenting using different media and software to create a final moving animation. Chatsworth has always been a place where I love to go, which portrays the love for Chatsworth within my animation, with the different areas such as the gardens, house and scenic landscapes.

Final Animation:
Event zine design and merchandise:

RSA Competition Brief- All Being Well
I really enjoyed this brief, to design something which can be used to help peoples health and for future generations to come. Fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle has always been a big passion of mine. I decided to create a brand called 'Revive Fitness' which are sport trainers and pods which help to closely monitor different aspects of your health with things such as your weight, heart rate, tracking and much more. As some of my final outcomes, I created how the trainer would look and the types of materials, the box packaging and portable docking port for the pods to recharge, alongside a tote bag which hold all the products in.
During this brief, I got to develop my skills using Adobe Dimension to build a packaging mock-up and experimenting with screen printing which is something I haven't yet used in previous projects.

RSA Competition Brief- All Being Well
The pods which are removable can be placed within another pair of Revive Fitness trainers, which are linked to an app which features tailored to your health with things such as heart rate, age, weight, height, specific fitness goals and also features a tracking system for when you go on a run or walk. Featured on the app are also reminders on having a drink break which can be easily forgotten when your doing exercise, and have reminders when the pods are nearly out of charge before they have to charge them via the pod charging port.

Cosmetic Packaging Innovation: Fenty Beauty By Rhianna
My self initiated brief was to create a more sustainable packaging concept for the popular cosmetic brand 'Fenty Beauty' by Rhianna. The brand focuses on becoming more 'earth conscious', ensuring their products have the least impact on the environment. This was shown through refillable products which are made recycled materials.
Design Process:
I wanted to learn how to create CAD drawings and looking at strategies to limit the amount of material used. The honeycomb hexagon shape gives a natural feel throughout the packaging, similar to a natural bee hive. Changing the size of the windows changed the percentage of material used but also enhanced the design as the product was more visible to the consumer.
I wanted to keep the overall design natural but still keeping within her brand theme of expressive but minimalistic, shown through product textures on front of pack. The inside of pack has more information about the product which can be folded out, overlapped by the celebrities hero image.

Laser cutting workshop:
Here I conducted a laser cutting experiment using clear acrylic, 2cm in depth. This also helped me to develop my skills using the CoralDraw software by making sure my design was correctly set up and the settings were correct before laser cutting the acrylic. After 15 minutes, I was really happy with how fast and precise the finished result came out. On the other hand, the typeface I used for the design was quite thin and intricate, making it difficult for the laser cutter to cut it out clearly.
I noticed that on the letters EF, the laser cutter found it easier to cut out a bigger surface area rather than on small scale text. Reflecting on the outcome, I then decided to make a few design changes to enhance and improve the final outcome for the packaging design. This involved changing the thickness of the hexagons to make it less narrow to cut out, printing the text instead of using the laser cutter to cut out small print and making sure the printed information fit correctly within the embossed hexagon shapes.
